FDIC Alliance for Economic Inclusion (AEI)

South Texas Region

The Alliance for Economic Inclusion (AEI) is the FDIC's national initiative to establish broad-based coalitions of financial institutions, community-based organizations and other partners in nine markets across the country to bring all underbanked and underserved populations into the financial mainstream. All consumers should have reasonable access to full service banking and other financial services.

Money Week Houston is a member of the FDIC Alliance for Economic Inclusion (AEI) South Texas Regional Initiative. AEI provides a gateway into the financial mainstream by:

  • Enhancing the economic well-being of low- and moderate-income individuals and families, including the underbanked and underserved, by improving access to the U.S. banking system;

  • Working with financial institutions and other partners to bring those currently underbanked and underserved into the financial mainstream; and

  • Focusing on expanding banking services for underserved markets (e.g. low- and moderate-income neighborhoods, minority communities, rural areas, and immigrant markets) including affordable remittance products, targeted financial education programs, affordable small-dollar loans with a savings component and other services, alternative delivery systems and other asset-building programs.
