 Postponed Due to Ike

MoneyWeekHouston Postponed

Due to the enormous severity of Hurricane Ike, the highly anticipated, week long events of MoneyWeekHouston have been postponed.  Organizers of the city wide financial awareness campaign planned to host more than 250 events beginning Sunday, September 14.

“Like everyone, we hope the storm spares the Houston area of any catastrophe.  We canceled MoneyWeekHouston to insure the safety of our guests and participants, as well as the efforts to assist our family, friends and neighbors before and after the storm,” said Denise Shanklin, Event Organizer.

MoneyWeekHouston is the city’s largest financial literacy and education campaign.  It features national, state and local experts who cover all facets of finance from raising a “Money Smart Kid” to managing your money and protecting your home from foreclosure to planning your estate.  The event also features real life stories of those who have survived financial difficulties to those who are in the midst of financial challenges.

“We believe MoneyWeekHouston is an extraordinary campaign that has the ingredients to make life changes for both the young and old.  We look forward to bringing the event to our area as soon as we can,” said Shanklin.

Organizers will wait until after the effects of Hurricane Ike before rescheduling events for MoneyWeekHouston.  In the meantime, please log onto www.moneyweekhouston.org for financial advice in wake of Hurricane Ike, as well as updates regarding MoneyWeekHouston.
